Sri Lankan salads and sambol
A Sri Lankan Rice & Curry includes various small salads and sambols that accompany the rice and the various curries. But the delicious salads and sambols can also be a crispy, spicy and colorful accompaniment to all your other favorite dishes.

Coconut sambol 300 g grated coconut |
Gotu kola or kale salad 200 g fresh gotu kola/kale |
Tomato and onion salad 1 large onion |
HOW TO DO IT
Coconut sambol
Crush the onion, garlic, tomato, green chilies and chili flakes in a mortar until smooth. Mix with the grated coconut and season with salt, pepper and lime juice. Garnish with green chilies and a lime wedge.
Gotu kola salad
Wash the gotu kola/kale thoroughly and drain it of water so that it is dry and not wet. Finely chop the leaves and stems. Thinly slice the green chilies. Peel the shallots and chop finely. Cut the tomato into small cubes. Toss the gotu kola with grated coconut, green chilies, shallots, tomato and season with freshly squeezed lime juice, salt and black pepper.
Tomato and onion salad
Peel and halve the onion and cut it into thin wedges. Halve the tomato and cut into small cubes. Cut the chilli into thin slices. Toss the onion, tomato and chilli together and season with salt, cracked pepper and lime juice.
